ON THE RUN…TO METRO

June 23rd, 2009

FROM MetroChicago’s Blog:

Sunday, we hosted Emergenza’s Battle of the Bands. Some folks were wondering who the lucky band to move onto the national finals in New York is. Well, fun part is we’ve mentioned them before in this blog. The winner is none other than On The Run. Looks like that BBQ idea paid off. Congrats boys. You can check out their myspace below.

Local Chicago rock reggae band, On The Run, is offering a little more sustenance to their fans than a performance at the June 21st Emergenza Chicago finals. Day of the show, the guys are throwing a free barbeque Sunday Funday party including transportation to Metro for the show that night. Guess that means for the small price of $20, you get fun, food, a ride to the show, and a concert featuring 14 bands competing for a chance to move on to the National Emergenza finals in New York. We’re not trying to play favorites, but you have to admit that’s a pretty good idea.

Get your tickets to the BBQ here or tickets for just the show here.

On The Run Wins Chicago Finals!

June 23rd, 2009

On The Run competed in the Emergenza Chicago Finals this past June 21, 2009 and took home first place.  Thanks to all the fans that were at the finals and also to all the fans that have been there throughout the way.  We would not be able to be where we are without all of our support from our fans.  We love you all.

The next step is to move onward to the National Finals in New York.  We will be getting free tickets to the show, so for anyone who can make it out there, contact us to reserve a ticket for you.

Thanks again for all your support and we’ll see you in NY!

See you soon!

Tyler Imbrey – Lead Vocals / Guitar

May 10th, 2009

tyler-imbreyBorn in Seattle and raised in NC, Tyler has crafted a style which fuses elements of blues, funk, grunge rock, and reggae. As a songwriter, singer, and guitarist he has been in the game playing live shows since the ripe age of sixteen. He developed his sound through both performance and recording and has made two full length solo albulms as well as a series of full band recordings. An original member and co- founder of the disbanded “The Liquid Courage Band”, he is now back in the game with a fresh group of musicians who bring new sound and energy. A year after moving to Chicago and playing shows with other groups Tyler combined forces with Luke Gale and began writing and searching for other musicians with similar conviction. Shortly thereafter they stumbled upon a stellar rhythm section and are getting booked faster than they can write songs.

Luke Gale – Lead Guitar / Vocals

May 4th, 2009

luke-galeLuke Gale, a southern man at heart, is a self taught guitar player from Chicago. Although medicine is his career, he is ever so passionate about music. He has played with several groups in the Chicagoland area as well as in Charleston, Champaign and Bloomington, IL.  Luke’s sound and playing style, which often incorporate simultaneous lead and rhythm parts, draw comparison to no other. Hendrix, Vaughan, Reggie Wooten and Freddie King (another Texas bluesman), are amoung his musical influences. Another stylistic influence of Luke’s is Albert Collins. By utilizing his index finger as a pick a la Albert Collins, Luke is able to coax various tonal nuances from his amplifier. Luke plays a custom, handmade Brian Moore iM9 electric guitar, and a taylor acoustic/electric.
