One of Chicago’s most exciting new bands, On The Run, has steadily developed a loyal fan base that can best be described as rabid. Packing venues up and down the east coast and of course in their hometown, the band seamlessly blends genres and touches audiences of all age groups and walks of life. A combination of skilled songwriting and a stage show that you will not soon forget, has earned On the Run invitations to play at some of the nations most esteemed venues including Chicago’s “The Metro” and NYC’s “Webster Hall” among many others.
Their sound can best be described as a unique blend of soulful vocals, thoughtful, attention grabbing guitar riffs complimented with a tight, pocket oriented rhythm section. This volatile combination, combined with On the Run’s attention to detail and dynamics makes for danceable, yet all the while emotional music. On The Run has been recognized for unabashedly tackling difficult subjects and feel good music alike to reflect the whole range of human emotion.
Rock, Roots, Reggae, Blues; the band does them all a service without overplaying any one genre. They are in some respects a jam band, but know how to employ song structure and refuse to let lyrical content fall by the wayside. Ultimately, it seems that On the Run has taken the stylistics and musicality that have worked for many of the greats in the past; and have made it their own. The result is a sound that is new and refreshing, yet nostalgic at the same time.

Born in Seattle and raised in NC, Tyler has crafted a style which fuses elements of blues, funk, grunge rock, and reggae. As a songwriter, singer, and guitarist he has been in the game playing live shows since the ripe age of sixteen. He developed his sound through both performance and recording and has made two full length solo albulms as well as a series of full band recordings. An original member and co- founder of the disbanded “The Liquid Courage Band”, he is now back in the game with a fresh group of musicians who bring new sound and energy. A year after moving to Chicago and playing shows with other groups Tyler combined forces with Luke Gale and began writing and searching for other musicians with similar conviction. Shortly thereafter they stumbled upon a stellar rhythm section and are getting booked faster than they can write songs.

Luke Gale, a southern man at heart, is a self taught guitar player from Chicago. Although medicine is his career, he is ever so passionate about music. He has played with several groups in the Chicagoland area as well as in Charleston, Champaign and Bloomington, IL. Luke’s sound and playing style, which often incorporate simultaneous lead and rhythm parts, draw comparison to no other. Hendrix, Vaughan, Reggie Wooten and Freddie King (another Texas bluesman), are amoung his musical influences. Another stylistic influence of Luke’s is Albert Collins. By utilizing his index finger as a pick a la Albert Collins, Luke is able to coax various tonal nuances from his amplifier. Luke plays a custom, handmade Brian Moore iM9 electric guitar, and a taylor acoustic/electric.

Born and raised in the Chicagoland area, Mike always knew he wanted to be in a band. Either that, or a telepathic dolphin interpreter. His smooth double-finger rhythm action can funkify the rockiness of your soul while stimulating your senses. And he plays bass.
Musical Influences: smooth jazz, scented candles, the sound that whales make when they hump.
